10,000 Words of Gratitude for E

i used to know someone,
and when i think about them now, i realize i'm grateful

I saw a kid today. He said “may I ask you something?” as I walked past, he was barely audible. I was so big, and the kid was so small… I stopped, called to him. After a hesitation. And he came. Without hesitation. He said, in a very soft voice, “I won’t ask for any money, may you please buy me food from that cafeteria over there?” I said, “I’ll give you money, and you can buy some yourself. Does that work?” He said yes. Maybe he didn’t say anything, but he smiled and nodded. I opened my wallet carefully in case I had a lot of money, not wanting him to see it. Turns out there were only three 5 TL notes in it. I showed him my wallet: “I only have 15 liras. I’ll give it all to you, ok?” Gave it to him. “A good day to you.” “To you too.” And I left.

Thank you E.

Some explanation:

E was the person who showed me how to do good.

That doing good is worth something.

Something i keep hearing over and over again in my head, “they probably need it more than i do”

i heard this again so many times inside my head.

that’s someting E said.

Thank you E.
